The 1911 station building

Regina's Union Station was constructed in 1911-12. It brought the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Canadian Northern Railway, later the Canadian National Railway, under one roof. By 1931 the building needed more room. An expansion costing nearly $1,250,000 pushed the three-storey central section south, creating a grand concourse and a pedestrian subway to the platforms. The 1911 facade was removed, and most of the 1931 features are still preserved.

The last VIA train left on January 16, 1990. After a multi-million dollar renovation in 1995, the station reopened as Casino Regina in January 1996. SaskGaming runs it, and since June 1, 2023, SaskGaming has been wholly owned by Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS). LGS is a provincial Crown corporation.

The gaming floor

Casino Regina has over 600 slot machines, in denominations from 1¢ to $5. More than 20 live table games run beside them. Blackjack runs on seven tables, Roulette on three and Poker on eight, with Baccarat, Chase the Flush and Three Card Poker also offered. Three standalone dealer assist podiums add to that. So do 54 Touch Bet terminals.

From Monday to Thursday, floor hours are 9 am to 4 am, Central Standard Time. On Friday and Saturday the floor runs 24 hours, until 4 am on Sunday. Sunday hours after 4 am are not confirmed, so a call to 1-800-555-3189 settles them before a Sunday visit. The casino's contact page carries the holiday hours, and that is where to check them.

The Players Club card

The Players Club costs nothing, and a card is issued at the Players Club desk at Casino Regina with photo ID. The same card works at Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw. Slots earn 1 point for every $1 wagered, and poker earns 160 points per hour. A balance of 1,000 points can be redeemed for a $5 dining or entertainment voucher. Points lapse only after 12 months with no account activity; they give back a little of what has already been spent and are no reason to play.

Online play in Saskatchewan

Only one online gaming platform is legal in the province: PlayNow.com, run by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA). Its provincial launch came in November 2022. Casino Regina offers gaming only at its physical location and has no online casino. The casino also warns about fake ads and apps that use its name.

Each paid link on the guide's home page bears the Ad label. The guide earns a commission from the private online casino partner those links lead to. That partner is not PlayNow; the province neither licenses nor operates it. It has no connection with Casino Regina, SaskGaming, LGS, SIGA or SLGA. The partner can change.
